Steenbergs Organic Rosewater is a delicately fragrant culinary flower water made from organic Damask rose petals. It has a distinctive floral aroma and concentrated rose flavour that can be used to add depth and fragrance to cakes, desserts, drinks and savoury recipes.

The rose water is produced in Bulgaria using freshly picked organic rose petals. The petals are combined with water on a one-to-one basis and distilled, allowing their naturally aromatic components to pass into the finished flower water.

Only a small amount is generally required, as rose water has a pronounced floral character. It can be added gradually to recipes and adjusted according to personal taste, helping prevent the rose flavour from overpowering the other ingredients.

In baking, the rose water can be incorporated into cake mixtures, biscuits, shortbread, pastries and sweet breads. It can also be used to flavour buttercream, icing, whipped cream, custard and homemade confectionery such as Turkish delight.

For desserts, add a few drops to rice pudding, panna cotta, ice cream, fruit salads or chocolate-based puddings. Rose pairs particularly well with ingredients such as cardamom, pistachio, almond, vanilla, raspberry, strawberry and dark chocolate.

The flower water can also be used in drinks. Add a small quantity to lemonade, sparkling water, tea, mocktails or milk-based drinks, stirring thoroughly before serving. When preparing a drink, begin with a few drops and add more only if required.

Rose water is not limited to sweet recipes. It may be added sparingly to salad dressings, grain dishes, marinades and sauces where a subtle floral note is desired. Its flavour is particularly suited to Middle Eastern and Persian-inspired cooking.

How to use
