The fish is packed simply in spring water and salt, creating a clean-tasting product that can be adapted to light lunches, filling main meals and family recipes.

Fish4ever sources this yellowfin tuna from the Maldives, where it is caught one fish at a time using pole and line. The tuna is also packed in the Maldives, helping keep processing closer to the fishery. The product forms part of Fish4ever’s Fair Trade USA certified yellowfin programme, which works with Maldivian fishing communities and locally operated boats.

Compared with smaller tuna flakes, yellowfin has a firmer, more defined structure. Its substantial pieces work particularly well in composed salads, wraps and rice bowls where the fish should remain visible. It can also be broken down more thoroughly for sandwich fillings, fishcakes and pasta bakes.

Each tin contains 75% yellowfin tuna together with spring water and salt. The declared nutritional information provides 26g of protein per 100g, alongside 0.5g of fat, 109kcal and no declared carbohydrate or sugar. This makes it a practical ingredient for meals where a measured quantity of protein is required without an oil-based packing medium.

Try combining the tuna with cannellini beans, parsley, lemon and red onion, or serve it with boiled eggs, green beans and potatoes in a niçoise-inspired salad.
